Police & Fire Awareness Program

Do you have a relative or loved one living with special circumstances like Autism, Dementia, loss of hearing/eyesight or PTSD, for example?

By providing information about these special circumstances to the Thornton Police & Fire 911 Emergency Communications Center, you can give first responders more AWARENESS during an emergency, when it could save valuable time.

Here’s how it works: click on the below links and fill out the form, then email it back to us. Voluntarily let first responders know what information would be helpful should they respond to the home. Information you provide might include how to best approach an individual with special needs or circumstances, how they might act or interact with police or fire personnel, where they might go if they leave the home, or what they might be drawn to if first responders are looking for them.

In addition, Thornton Police will provide an AWARENESS sticker (above), to be placed on a vehicle, residence, or any other place that can alert a first responder that someone may respond differently than expected. Even if you choose not to fill out the above-mentioned form, you can still get this sticker at Thornton PD headquarters (9551 Civic Center Drive), or Fossil Ridge Public Safety Center (13150 Quebec Street). To have a sticker delivered to you by a police officer, or if you have specific questions, simply email PoliceDept@ThorntonCO.gov.

Thank you for collaborating with us and giving us the opportunity to provide the highest quality of proactive service to you and those you care about. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
